Not all language classes are created equal...

Some language classes focus on teaching grammar rules and vocabulary, while others emphasize communication and conversation skills. THAT'S US!

Communication, language in context, visuals, and using language to talk in the language is how we learn. Remembering rules is something our brain does for us naturally, our teachers use their precious time to engage and make memorable language experiences. Our online language clubs do exactly that! Do you want this type of language experience for your kiddo? Learn more here.

In this blog post, we'll explore the benefits of language classes that focus on talking in the language rather than about the language. There is a HUGE difference here and many schools focus on teaching languages as if they were a car manual.

  • Immersion in the language

One of the primary benefits of language classes that focus on conversation is immersion. Students are surrounded by the language and are encouraged to speak it from day one. This helps them develop a better understanding of the language and increases their comfort level when speaking it.

  • Improved communication skills

When students are encouraged to speak the language, they are forced to practice their communication skills. This includes listening, speaking, and even nonverbal communication. As a result, students develop a better understanding of the language's nuances and subtleties, which is essential for effective communication.

  • Better retention of vocabulary

When students are taught vocabulary in context, rather than as isolated words on a list, they are more likely to remember it.

This is because they are associating the words with real-world situations and conversations. Additionally, when students are encouraged to use the vocabulary in conversation, they are reinforcing it in their minds.

  • Increased cultural awareness

Language and culture are often intertwined. When students are encouraged to speak the language, they are also exposed to the culture. This can include traditions, customs, and even humor. As a result, students develop a better understanding and appreciation of other cultures.

  • Increased motivation and enjoyment

Language classes that focus on conversation are often more engaging and enjoyable for students. Rather than memorizing grammar rules and vocabulary, students are encouraged to use the language in real-world situations. This can be motivating and can lead to better retention of the language.

Language classes that focus on conversation and communication skills offer numerous benefits for children. From increased retention of vocabulary to improved communication skills and cultural awareness, these classes can help students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of other languages and cultures.
